Herd Sires from the past that have sired does here naturally or by means of Laparoscopic AI

reference sires

Since we often produce kids by means of Artificial Insemination from well known, and sometimes rare semen straws from legendary Kikos' past, we wanted a place to introduce you to those bucks.

We also have a few bucks shown that sired kids naturally here for us and are now working on other farms.

JJS COUNTRY BEAR

2016 - 2023
We had the privelage of owning Country from the time he was a long yearling until 2021 when we sold him to a commercial producer. At the time we felt like it was the right decision but as these next years passed we realized what an asset his daughters have become in our herd. We attempted to purchase him back but the producer that was using him was also happy with his production and refused. Fortunately, we did have the opportunity to collect him but we have a very limited number of straws from him. We still have country daughters in our herd that we consider part of the foundation of our production here and we are looking forward to producing his line again in the future through AI.

HVF FRANK

Frank is the son of HVF E66 (son of Cherokee Fiddler) and HVF 1112. He is a great grandson of Sunboy 117 (Loverboy) on both his sire and his dams sides and full brother to the buck that placed 2nd in the 2016 Maryland Buck Test. Frank himself was the sire of a young buck that we sent to the 2022 WV Buck Test. That young buck tied for 2nd for fecal egg count so we are happy to see the parasite resistance continuing to his offspring here. That young buck, ROW Frank's Pimpin' Ain't Easy went on to sire a herd in Kansas. Frank had already sired some does when we purchased him at the 2020 Cream of the Crop Sale where he made a lasting impression on those in attendance. He continually impressed us while here in regards to his hardiness and his size. He was pushing 300 lbs. when we weighed him in the spring of 2021 and he has continued to mature. He bred a small group of does late fall, 2020, and those stocky kids earned him twice as many does for his second season. Once his 2022 kids weaned, we continued to watch them grow and mature, retaining several here so we could raise them to full maturity. Aside from Frank's impressive size, conformation, and hardiness, he also produced 65% does while here. Frank has all the attributes that kikos are know for and always gave us what we like to see from our herd sires. 2023 was Franks last kid crop for us as we are continually exploring different genetic lines to improve our production. We are very happy to say that we have several of his does who are now carrying on his legacy in our herd and that he is now siring a herd in Nebraska. We hope that he continues to be a great producer there.
FOR REFERENCE, THE HERD SIRES LISTED BELOW ARE SOME THAT WE HAVE USED OR MAY USE IN FUTURE AI'S OR FLUSHES OR THAT MAY BE NOTABLE IN THE LINES OF OUR HERD
